One City One Shot Episode #8

It was good to see John Goodman back out on skates. In celebration we decided to have a fun session around his local area. After a quick warmup at the ghetto council park we checked out this evil beast. It’s not much to look at but it’s rough and the autumn leaves weren’t helping a lot.

To be honest we only stayed a short time as Kyle and John landed a few tricks and we then moved off for more fun little spots. I grabbed a few shots here because there was no way I was going to even look at that rail with wheels on my feet. This was my favourite of the day.

Well we were back out in Manchester, hitting up a number of completely virgin spots as the weather has started to improve. These were spots that had never been skated before and it will be a while before they are skated like this again. Then at the end of the day, Kyle suggested we just check out a high, steep ledge that he’d seen in the area. And so was born this shot of Stephen Swain, Tru Mizou on this fresh, chest high beveled concrete ledge as the sun goes down over Eccles.

And though it goes against the general ethos of OCOS, if you want to see the other shots we picked up during the day, there’s a small gallery of the day.

Out and about grabbing a few clips, checking out some new spots after trying to get a look at Euxton skatepark through the swathes of scooters. We find ourselves in Chorley. Nothing much to account for the day apart from some fun times. That was until this tempting little beauty hit the radar. Kyle Murray stepped up and regardless of the proximity of the barriers and shopping trolley ranks, dropped this farside soul through the kink.

So, the snow had finally (mostly) melted, not that we could tell as we drove over the Pennines to Sheffield. Surrounded by the pure white hills and clear lake water none of us could quite believe that spring had arrived and we were going to skate. The Steel City itself however was relatively warm and sunny and rammed full of skate spots. After the first few warm up spots, I grabbed some decent shots but then as the sun went down we hit our last spot of the day.

This is where Steve Swain decided to test out his new Kaltik Frames and flat setup on not only the kink rail, but this insane double set gap.

Just wait for that footage…

One City One Shot Episode #4

A weekend in Manchester and people are out. This is in no small part down to the efforts of new boy to the area (though long time friend and supporter of UrbanLines) Kyle Murray. It seems only fitting then that of all the spots that have been wrecked recently, this is the pick of the last couple of days. First spot of the day and Kyle’s back royale on this ridiculous metal drop ledge.

Today’s update to the (slow) series is Mark Lee skating in Manchester. As the light was fading, our guide JP brought us to this gem with enough time to grab a clip, and maybe a decent photo. I wasn’t expecting to get much of this as the rail is ridiculously long, and it turned out to be demonically fast. A few test tries later and Mark nails this slick farv all the way down. Not that he was bothered as you can tell from his face.

One City One Shot Episode #2

After taking quite a liking to the format of One Shot in Manc I have decided to occasionally get out occasionally and just pick the best shot to showcase. This time is was prompted by a visit by Dean Makin up to Stoke. Unfortunately on the day most of the spots we visited we unavailable but this one, though damp (and remaining so due to the Potteries Drizzle) was where we ended up. A derelict demolition site with only a couple of outbuildings remaining, accompanied by their rusty stair rails…

It was a lazy day with no plans that turn into a mad night in Manchester. Yes we skated, but that was not the primary mission on this day so I only grabbed a single photo. With only a few minutes on this spot I turned to the ever-reliable John Goodman to provide the subject matter and this is what I got straight out of the gun:
